Postgraduate law scholarships
As part of the initiatives to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the first Macquarie Law graduates, the Division of Law offers a number of scholarships to students undertaking postgraduate study.
These scholarships are available to either three year PhD candidates or two year Masters by Research candidates.
Offered annually, they are open to any local or international student wishing to research in Law, who has a minimum of second class honours or equivalent, and who is not eligible for other higher degree research scholarships, or any Australian Government award.
Scholarships in Business Law and Law
These two scholarships are available to students who wish to pursue a research program leading to the degree of PhD or LLM-Research, in the areas of both Business Law and Law. Applicants should hold or expect to obtain an Honours degree in an appropriate field awarded in at least the Second Class Division One, or equivalent, and be eligible for admission to the degree of PhD or LLM in the Division of Law.
The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit and are available to both Australian and international students. They are tenable for two years for a Master degree by research or three years for PhD, subject to satisfactory progress. The stipend for the awards is $18,484 with additional funds of up to $3000 for research support also available from the Division.
To be eligible for these awards applicants must not have already completed a degree at the same or a higher level than the proposed degree.
The closing date for students commencing in 2006 is 20 January 2006.
