2005 Law Seminar Series

The Macquarie University Law Seminar Series is an excellent opportunity for those with an interest in the law, and how it relates to other aspects of society, to hear a range of experts discuss hot topics in the field.

The theme of this year’s series is Customs in Common – Law, Culture, Memory.

As well as including well-established legal experts discussing their latest research, this year’s series also features experts from other fields of academia. Areas such as modern history, cultural studies and anthropology will provide attendees with new perspectives on the interdisciplinary nature of the law.

Semester 1 seminars include:

  • Thursday 7 April: Global governance: an heretical history play - Dr Fleur Johns, University of Sydney
  • Thursday 14 April Understanding property: the interface of law and the humanities – Associate Professor Andrew Buck, Macquarie University and Dr Nancy Wright, University of Newcastle
  • Thursday 5 May: Remembering, forgetting and remembering to forget: the use of the past in law and history – Dr Alex Reilly, Macquarie University.

The seminars are held every Thursday during semester from 1-2pm in the Trevor Martin Moot Court, Building W3A Level 3.
