EngineeringWith a wide variety of new courses commencing in 2008, now is the time to consider postgraduate study at Macquarie University. From engineering to ancient history, social impact assessment to advanced surgery, the possibilities are endless.

Master of Engineering Management
This degree is ideal for students with an engineering or IT background who wish to make the move into management. The program is designed to provide a pathway into engineering management for those who do not wish to complete a full MBA but who want to benefit from a program that includes the high quality of management teaching available from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM), professionals from the IT and engineering industry as well as top academics. Core units are recognised for credit towards postgraduate programs offered by the MGSM.

Postgraduate Certificate in World Literatures
Taking an interdisciplinary approach, this program examines texts in their cultural, geopolitical and historical contexts while at the same time emphasising the crossing of cultural and disciplinary boundaries. The certificate comprises an in-country study tour that allows students to study a foreign culture and literary tradition from close-up.

Master of Arts in Late Antiquity
This program provides students with a unique specialty in an exciting area of ancient history study. It has a focused methodological approach to understanding the transition from the classical world to the medieval and Byzantine worlds which in turn form the basis for the emergence of modern Europe and western society.

Postgraduate Certificate in Ancient History
The Postgraduate Certificate in Ancient History provides a concentrated study in several areas of specialisation including archaeology, biblical studies, Coptic studies, Egyptian, Greek and Roman history. It will also provide the opportunity for technical training in the use of documentary evidence for study of the ancient world.

Master of Advanced Surgery
Surgeons who have a specialist qualification and who wish to acquire a university qualification will benefit from the new Master of Advanced Surgery. Completion of the program will signal mastery of additional skills and competencies in a sub-specialty. The program comprises: surgical competencies, competence in ethical surgical practice, and competence in teaching and research.

Postgraduate Diploma in Social Impact Assessment
Macquarie University's postgraduate programs in social impact assessment provide Australia's first specialist tertiary qualification in this important and rapidly expanding field. Its focus on skills development, research training and theoretical engagement is appropriate for practitioners in a range of fields including planning, government, community and industry interests in urban planning, community, infrastructure and resource development, and organisational development.

The closing date for first round applications (internal/on-campus and external/distance programs) is Wednesday 31 October 2007.
