
Last chance to enrol in education programs mid-year
If you work in the field of education and are looking to update your qualifications, there are 39 courses available in the Australian Centre for Educational Studies mid year intake - but hurry as applications close soon.
With options ranging from a one-year certificate to a diploma or even a masters program, there are a variety of courses to suit any candidate. Programs are available in the Institute of Early Childhood, the Macquarie University Special Education Centre, the School of Education and the Institute of Higher Education Research and Development.
Master of Early Childhood
The Masters program provides candidates with an opportunity to undertake advanced study in early childhood, to enhance their professional knowledge, and extend their knowledge of related areas.
Those applying to undertake the Master of Early Childhood must have a Bachelor of Education or Bachelor level degree in education, social sciences or humanities; and professional or academic experience with infants and children (0-8 years) and their families.

Postgraduate Certificate in Special Education (Behaviour Problems strand)
This Certificate is designed to assist students in developing a research-based approach to the day-to-day management of behaviour. The unit Effective Literacy Instruction reflects the emphasis on the relationship between poor classroom behaviour and lack of academic success and poor academic progress in literacy.
Candidates who successfully complete the Certificate may have these units credited towards the Postgraduate Diploma in Special Education and/or the Master of Special Education.

Postgraduate Diploma in Education and Work
The Postgraduate Diploma in Education and Work has a distinctive focus on post-secondary education and training. The course aims to develop knowledge about the theory and processes of issues related to education and work. Students will also develop skills in decision making, problem solving, organising and communicating.
Candidates must have a Bachelor degree or equivalent to apply to undertake the program.

Master of Higher Education (Leadership and Management strand)
The course is a flexible program for those wishing to study higher education and higher education development. Areas of specialisation include higher education learning and teaching, e-Learning and leadership and management.

The first round closing date for internal/on campus applications and the first and final closing date for external/distance applications is Wednesday 31 May 2006. The final closing date for internal/on campus applications is Friday 30 June 2006.
