
Last chance to enrol in humanities programs mid-year
From children's literature to Egyptology, or politics and public policy, the Division of Humanities at Macquarie University has a wide range of options for those wanting to commence postgraduate study in the second half of 2006.
Twenty-seven postgraduate programs are available for mid-year entry in the Division of Humanities. These programs are offered within the Departments of Ancient and Modern History, English, Politics and International Relations, and Contemporary Music Studies. Study ranges from a one-year certificate to a diploma or masters program (MA).
Postgraduate Diploma in Children's Literature
If you are interested in children and the literary media they consume, the Postgraduate Diploma in Children's Literature offers an opportunity to learn more about this developing area.
Macquarie University is internationally recognised for its innovative and rigorous contribution to the field of children's literature.
Candidates normally have a Bachelor's degree, with a major relevant to the field such as education, english, information science or a modern language.
Students will graduate with a Postgraduate Diploma after completing six units. The MA can be gained by completing six coursework units and a minor thesis, or by completing eight coursework units.

Master of Arts in Egyptology
The MA program provides concentrated study in Egyptology including technical and research training for those without prior qualifications in the subject who may wish to gain entry to a research degree in Egyptology.
Candidates must complete eight half-year units including Ancient History, Introduction to Middle Egyptian (hieroglyphics) and Middle Kingdom Documents.
A Bachelor degree is the primary entry requirement to the program. Relevant professional experience in the field of Egyptology may satisfy entry requirements under University rules.

Master of Politics and Public Policy
The Master of Politics and Public Policy (MPP) is designed to develop an understanding of structure and process of policy formulation and implementation, using both Australian and international material. The program is appropriate for those seeking a future as practitioners in public, voluntary or political work and may also be useful for those intending further study and research in political science.
Admission requirements for the MPP is a Bachelor degree with a major in politics, economics or one of the social sciences and/or appropriate work experience.

The first round closing date for internal/on campus applications and the first and final closing date for coursework external/distance applications is Wednesday 31 May 2006. The final closing date for internal/on campus applications is Friday 30 June 2006.
