
Postgrad opportunities in research
Specialised information sessions across the month of September will provide prospective postgraduate students with invaluable information about undertaking research at Macquarie University.
Centre for Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism (PICT)
PICT offers a range of academic and professional education opportunities for graduates. Higher degree research is available in policing, intelligence and counter terrorism. The information session will be introduced by Vice-Chancellor Professor Steven Schwartz and presented by PICT Director Professor Peter Anderson. The session will be held on Wednesday 19 September from 5.30pm-7.30pm at the CBD Campus of the Macquarie Graduate School of Management, Level 6, 51-57 Pitt Street, Sydney.
Economic and Financial Studies (EFS)
EFS research students and academic staff will provide prospective students with all the information they need to become involved in research at Macquarie University. Topics to be discussed include how to become a researcher, support services, and scholarships, as well as the new Postgraduate Certificate in Research Methods. The session will be held on Wednesday 26 September from 5.30pm-7.30pm on Level 3 of the SAM Building, Macquarie University.
Graduate School of the Environment (GSE)
The GSE has a well-established reputation for producing excellent postgraduates able to respond to current challenges in the marketplace. Further information about programs in environmental planning, management, education, science and sustainable development will be provided at two information sessions. The first session will be held on Tuesday 4 September from 5.30pm-7.30pm on Level 3 of the SAM Building, Macquarie University. The second session will be held on Tuesday 18 September from 5.30pm-7.30pm at the Macquarie Graduate School of Management CBD Campus, Level 6, 51-57 Pitt Street, Sydney.
Information and Communication Sciences (ICS)
The work of Macquarie University's brightest science and technology postgraduate students will be on show at the ICS Division's annual 'Lucid' research expo. This event promotes work from selected postgraduate students on topics including next generation wireless devices and networks, language technology, virtual reality, lasers and photonics, network security, cryptography, astronomy and microelectronics. The expo will be held on Tuesday 18 September from 4pm-6pm in Building E6A, Room 131/133, Macquarie University.
Macquarie University Library - How to research for success
This must attend information session will help prospective research students learn how to get the most out of Macquarie University Library services, and will outline available resources such as liaison services, document supply and information ethics. The seminar will be held on Monday 10 September from 12pm-1pm in Building E7B, Room 163, Macquarie University.
Special Education
Qualified teachers, graduates with qualifications in psychology, education or speech pathology, or those holding a recognised degree who want to make a career change, should attend this information session for an overview of the Macquarie University Special Education Centre (MUSEC). The information session will be held on Wednesday 5 September from 12pm-1pm in Building E7B, Theatre 4, Macquarie University and is appropriate for people interested in both coursework and research.
